I have been drawing ever since I could hold a crayon! I studied a bachelor of music majoring in cello performance, where I continued to do and love art throughout my studies on the side. I love the process of returning again and again to this form of expression which feels so natural to me. I have been teaching cello for over 15 years and learning and integrating the Alexander Technique for the past 10. I also have lots of experience with improvisation and dance, and am always finding ways to weave all of my different tools and experiences together when I teach to deliver engaging, relevant and creative lessons.

Georgia Shine is available for private bookings

Private tutoring and portraits available.
Availability depends on the type of request, but Saturdays in Hobart suit me. I also offer more times during the week from my home studio in Deep Bay.

This was drawn from an out of focus photo I took whilst wondering through part of the Tarkine forest some years ago. I have been fascinated by the world of fungi for years and have a large collection of photos that I am slowly collecting into one folder. I have always drawn and fell in love the ink as at teenager when I saw some etching in an exhibition. I had wanted to try push my drawing to another level just for myself and began with looking at my collection of photos. So why use an out of f

Upon my recent return to Hobart, I was taken by the impact small elements have on a larger outcome. My work is not a conscious representation of this, but an exercise in subconscious expression channeling something unknown into realisation.

Original unframed 65 x 91 cm Alcohol ink on yupo paper sealed with high grade varnish and UV spray. My artwork is heavily inspired by both nature and the mindgarden. Planting the seeds of joy and happiness today for our tomorrows.?Just like the lifespan of cherry blossoms, our days pass in a blink of an eye. According to Japanese folklore, cherry blossoms should remind us to cherish the best parts of our lives and not forget to appreciate the beauty in everything.?- Flower Glossary

Kunyanyi and the Derwent bridge are two landmarks of Hobart, both inspirational. I started it painting in a Van Gogh style but it sort of evolved. It is quite a large painting and was fun to do.

Good morning, thankyou, what an honour to even be considered. This is an acrylic on canvas which I painted specifically as a donation to the Paynter family of Hobart. Hamish, then 15, when the accident happened last year, was left a paraplegic, with minimal hand movements after an outing to the beach with his school went horribly wrong. His father's workplace, Calvary Hospital went straight into help mode to aid this family with the enormous medical and building costs to alter the family home

The clothing items I used for this still life came from my closet. I was thinking about how life is more than what we wear and how it is more important that we are clothed in kindness, strength, and humility.

Oils on 56cm x 46cm canvas. Large for me!A larger canvas really does provide a wonderful opportunity to dive into the textures and subtleties of the lion cub's fur, and those expressive little details?like the way its eyes catch the light. Oils allows you to layer and blend, giving more depth and ability to play with the softness of the fur.

Title or Location: Vernal Equinox in the Straits of Mackinac
Winter?s grip on the Straits of Mackinac slowly melts away with each passing day of warm sunshine. The ice cover gradually retreats with the approaching spring and renewal of another shipping season on the Great Lakes. Round Island Lighthouse has been a sentinel and silent witness to this annual ritual for over a hundred years.
