Was a very lovely group and location was lovely. Learnt new skills using grey lead pencils. I now know the difference in the B pencils and the H pencils and when to use them. I have a better understanding of using shading to form shape without using a line to build the shape. Sat next to her as she drew this object. Tried to see the light in the object. Nice seeing the interpretation of the other students work.

ARTISTS
Haritha Velassini
Hi, I am Haritha Velassini, an artist based in Hobart. My work spans various styles and mediums, and I love exploring different surfaces to bring my ideas to life.

I will be hosting workshops on Kolam painting, a traditional South Indian art form. Typically drawn at the entrances of homes using rice flour. Kolam designs are created by connecting dots with loops, lines, and curves. In my workshop, I am adapting this tradition into a painting format. Beyond Kolam, I create artworks using acrylics, gouache, and watercolors. I do paintings on canvases, watercolor sheets, MDF/wooden bases and fabrics. My go to is botanical and animal illustrations. I also paint and sell my hand painted products like fridge magnets, bookmarks, tote bags, canvas paintings etc. I sell them on online platforms and also take orders through my social media platform.

Haritha Velassini is available for private bookings

In the wild, where extremes collide,The protea blooms with strength and pride. With fiery sun and winds that howl,It flourishes amidst nature's growl.A guinea flower feather, delicate and rare,Grows in harshness, with a beauty so fair.Through trials and storms, it learns to thrive,A symbol of courage, keeping dreams alive.?Let your heart be your compass,? so wise,Your mind the map, your soul the prize. On life?s winding path, we take our strides,Stumbling and falling, yet

Title or Location: Call To Me
My art is a deeply personal exploration of transformation, introspection, and discovery, inspired by the belief that within every challenge lies a gift. Painting allows me to express emotions and ideas that words cannot fully capture, creating a bridge between my spiritual journey and the viewer?s personal experience. I aim to touch and connect with others in ways that inspire reflection, growth, and a sense of purpose. My creative process begins without a clear plan?just playful mark-making

Title or Location: Beauty For Ashes
Beauty for Ashes is a one-of-a-kind artwork that speaks to the journey of transformation, resilience, and renewal. The piece begins with delicate layers of rice paper, creating a rich textural foundation infused with handwritten affirmations and meaningful words, symbolising the layers of belief and hope that ground us through life?s trials. The title, Beauty for Ashes, draws from the profound idea of exchanging sorrow and struggle for grace and growth. It embodies the human experience as wel

Title or Location: Tarkine fungi
This was drawn from an out of focus photo I took whilst wondering through part of the Tarkine forest some years ago. I have been fascinated by the world of fungi for years and have a large collection of photos that I am slowly collecting into one folder. I have always drawn and fell in love the ink as at teenager when I saw some etching in an exhibition. I had wanted to try push my drawing to another level just for myself and began with looking at my collection of photos. So why use an out of f

Upon my recent return to Hobart, I was taken by the impact small elements have on a larger outcome. My work is not a conscious representation of this, but an exercise in subconscious expression channeling something unknown into realisation.

This rock came from lake Michigan on the west side of the shores. This rock is actually a fossil type of stone and I got my inspiration from waves landing in the sand and I could imagine the buoys and one loan sailboat trying to get to the pier before the darkness.
